Redeploy your active Classification models
Google Cloud Platform
MY CONSOLE

Hello Google Cloud AutoML Vision & AutoML Vision Edge Customer,

In August and October, we reached out to you about the new pricing structure that requires you to redeploy your Classification models.

We’re writing to let you know that we’ve updated the way your Image Classification models will be treated at General Availability.

If you are an ML Kit customer that uses AutoML Vision Edge exclusively via ML Kit, please note that the ML Kit console and client libraries will remain in beta. If you have not used Cloud AutoML Vision APIs directly in the Google Cloud Console, the following changes won't impact your usage or pricing and you may stop reading now.

What do I need to know?

The new pricing is effective the day after GA release later this month and is summarized in the table below:

Image Classification No. of Nodes (GPU or TPU) Free Paid (USD)
Training for Cloud Models 8 nodes in parallel per model First 40 node hours are free (one time) $3.15 per node hour
Deployment and Online Prediction Node number specified for deployment First 40 node hours are free (one time) $1.25 per node hour

Due to the change in Image Classification pricing for GA, discounts applied to Beta pricing will not be applied to GA pricing. You may reach out to your sales representative for details. For further information, including pricing examples, please refer to our pricing page.

What happens if I don’t redeploy my Image Classification models?

We’ve migrated your datasets to the GA (Integrated) UI. As a result, your Classification models trained prior to the migration are shown as deployed with ‘0 nodes’ until you redeploy them.

To allow customers enough time to review their models, any model deployed with ‘0 nodes’ at GA will:

  • continue to serve online predictions from the old service until February 20, 2020
  • be charged according to our current pricing, which is $3 per 1,000 images
  • be excluded from our Service Level Agreement (SLA) offered at GA

If no action is taken, these existing models will be undeployed on February 21, 2020. Online predictions will fail until you redeploy as explained next.

What do I need to do to keep my models active?

To be covered by our SLA and accept the new pricing effective at GA, you will need to redeploy your actively used Image Classification models. Please refer to our release notes for detailed instructions.

If you have redeployed all models you actively use, and the Integrated UI does not display any model as deployed with ‘0 nodes’, you don’t need to take any action.

We have identified that your projects listed below have active Cloud models which need to be reviewed:
