GCP UPDATES | JUNE 24, 2019
COMPUTE
Kubernetes Engine 1.13: GA
The latest Kubernetes Engine 1.13 update includes new code that refines several previously released features. Read the details in the documentation before upgrading. Documentation
Kubernetes Engine – Workload Identity: beta
Workload Identity is now the recommended way for Kubernetes Engine applications to consume services provided by Google Cloud APIs. When you bind a Kubernetes service account to a Google service account, Workload Identity allows workloads running as a Kubernetes service account to automatically authenticate as the Google service account when accessing Google Cloud APIs – and you don’t have to manage any keys or Kubernetes Secrets. Documentation
DATA ANALYTICS
Cloud Pub/Sub – modify subscription expiration policies: GA
Now you can change your subscription expiration policies from the default of 31 days to any time range of at least one day. Documentation
DEVELOPER TOOLS
Cloud Source Repositories – security key detection: GA
This feature helps you prevent users from storing security keys in a Google Cloud Platform repository. When a user executes a git push command, Cloud Source Repositories checks for GCP service account credentials or PEM-encoded private keys and blocks the command if they’re found. Documentation
Cloud Source Repositories – Secure Shell access: GA
You can now use SSH public key authentication to access hosted repositories, including RSA, ECDSA, and ED25519 key types. You can generate new keys for your source repository or reuse already existing SSH key pairs. You can register up to 20 public keys per Google Account. Documentation
